Karen Walker SS 2011

Runway photos via Style.com, "$1 Million" via Jessica Hische.
I love Karen Walker. I've always been really drawn to funky prints, and she does them particularly well and with a sense of humor that I admire. Her spring collection definitely has a pajama-vibe to it, and damned if I don't want to wear pajamas to work and look that good! That shade of yellow that she uses is one of my favorite colors, particularly in the circle skirt and under that yummy gray jacket.

The graphic in the middle of the image above was designed by the mind-blowingly-good Jessica Hische, who I was linked to by a friend from Portland before discovering that she's dating someone I used to work with at Neighborhoodies in Brooklyn (small world much?). I was scrolling through her epic portfolio when I stumbled on $1 Million, which instantly reminded me of Karen Walker, both for the colors and the awesome skulls-and-flowers motif, which appeared similarly in Walker's fall collection.

Thoughts?

I've got a semi-exciting (to me, anyway) project for A.B. Roni that I'm going to get started on this weekend, can't wait to share with you!
