My Style Then and Now: Pirate Party!

Rick Owens jacket / A.L.C. tank / Dannijo ring / Christian Louboutin Misfit heels / Alexander McQueen bracelet / By Malene Birger skirt
Guys, lets talk about this picture. I'm surrounded by boys dressed in pirate costumes, as this was clearly a pirate-themed birthday party, and I'm honoring the theme only vaguely with this outfit. (It should be noted that I have an adult-sized version of those exact same sneakers, stay tuned for the ATSIO coming up).  Also, I'm standing with a stick in my hand, presumably to hit the rainbow pinata above me, while looking wistfully into the distance at god only knows what. The kids behind me are like "WTF are you doing!?!?" Haterz.

The outfit I but together is a little more pirate-y (slash Kate Lanphear-y) than my 6-year-old version. I think I would feel really badass in this outfit. Definitely.

Help Me Help Me

1. Steven by Steve Madden "Geema" booties.  2. DV by Dolce Vita "Prince" boots.  3. Clarks Original Desert boot.  4. Sam Edelman "Effie" wedge oxford.

Help! I suddenly find myself with a $100 Nordstrom gift certificate and too many shoes to choose from. I've narrowed it down to these four... but I need help! Please? Which ones?

All the Shoes I Own #15: Topshop Studded Heels

Ah yes. I bought these for our company holiday party last year – as good an excuse to buy shoes as any, right? I should wear them more often, but they are a bit teetery.

This four-day weekend was seriously the best. I wish they came around more often. I'm currently in the throes of Nip/Tuck season four, the very beginning. Sort of can't deal with Mario Lopez's body... am I wrong? Also I can't watch any of the surgery on this show it's too gross.

What I Wore On Thanksgiving

H&M dress / Zara heels
Since it was Thanksgiving and I knew I would be doing a lot of cooking followed by a lot of eating, I picked this really comfy dress to wear and jazzed it up with some of my favorite gold jewelry. Oh and this red feathered hair clip that you can't really see in these pictures. We had 10 friends over for an early dinner, and it was a big success. We had all the turkey day favorites and an incredible spread of desserts. The whole day really did make me thankful for my incredible friends, they're simply the best.

Today, we recovered with a Nip/Tuck marathon (omg Brittany Snow the neo-nazi is too much to handle and WHEN is poor Kimber going to be reunited with Christian?), leftovers, and PJs. Four day weekends should be a once a month thing if you ask me.

My Style Then and Now: Turn My Swag On

Sonia Rykiel sweater / Proenza Schouler pants / Opening Ceremony ankle boots / Happy Socks / Alexander Wang backpack
What we have here is me, waiting at the foot of our driveway on the first day of school. I was extremely proud of this outfit, as you can tell by my bowl cut and the smirk on my face. I'm like, "Just WAIT til they see this."

And though I have outgrown the matching leggings + sweatshirt combo (or have I?) I would wear something very similar today, as I really do love a good matchymatch (so not cool, I know). These are all pieces I've been silently obsessed with for a while that I think would kick ass put together. Is it too much? Tell me the truth I can take it.

All the Shoes I Own #14: Turquoise Booties

Ahh yes. The turquoise scrunch-front booties, a staple in every fashionista's wardrobe, am I right? I bought these at a tiny boutique in Portland because they were on sale and I felt compelled. I think I've only worn them once circa 2005 to go play pool with a friend and then to the Pita Pit near Powell's afterward. I didn't get a pita but while I was standing outside waiting for my buds, this nice-but-creepy guy told me that he wanted to paint me, at his studio above the Pita Pit. Thanks but no thanks.

lemme buy you a pita @toomanyronis

What I Wore to the Photo Shoot

Opening Ceremony jacket / Vintage Revolution jeans / my dad's old shirt / Uniqlo socks / Sperry shoes / MARIELLE
Here is what I wore to our holiday photo shoot today on the Upper East Side. It was really fun, got to hang with my awesome StyledOn buds and met some new friends, The Little Black List and Ramshackle Glam. It was basically a gigglefest. The shoot was shot by the wonderful Rachel of The Greyest Ghost, and I can't wait for you to see it!

Pictured with me is one of my wonderful interns, Marielle. Seriously they are the best. For real.

All the Shoes I Own #13: Vans Flower High Tops

I was heavy into Vans for a while, but who wasn't (am I right??), and these are really fun, sweet high tops. I usually don't go for the made-for-the-girls versions of sneakers, but I like the flower power of these. Also, I really love that I somehow found a perfectly crisp bed of leaves and straw and other rando stuff to shoot them on. Serendipity!

What I Wore to Buy Socks

TopShop jacket and pants / F21 tank / Uniqlo socks / Sperry shoes / BDG hat / Tulle scarf / Cole Haan bag
This is what I wore to go buy some new Uniqlo socks, and guess what, I was WEARING Uniqlo socks!!! I got purple, blue, green, and sort-of-green. Prettayyyy hyped. All the guys stuff there right now is truly cute. The girls stuff is semi-cute. Also the guys socks are way better than the girls socks (sorray just saying).

Sorry my face looks so bummed out in these photos, I was trying to show off the wares, but DO YOU LIKE my festive holiday shoes?

Head Over Heels for Ellery

Ellery FW 2011 Lookbook via StuddedHearts
Well this collection is pretty much what I want my whole wardrobe to be. The flared pants. The red. The shoes!!! Gah okay sorry but seriously? If anyone is going to Australia anytime soon you should go find Ellery stuff and buy it (and hopefully it will be on sale).

How I Wear Scarves, Sometimes

Scarves, clockwise: Vintage Oscar de la Renta / Vintage ? / Vintage Anne Klein / Urban Outfitters
Today I was feeling the scarf love. I wore the one top left to work today, but then when I got home and was about to make sandos I decided to take some shotz (as in pictures duh). These are some fun ways to wear scarves. Mix it up, ya know?

If you're wondering why there are no cupboards, it's because some tenant from days of yore took them off. But my landlords accused my roommate of doing it and asked if he was using them for an art project. I think she thinks we're like major hipsters or something.

My Style Then and Now

Helmut Lang pants / PJ by Peter Jensen sweater / Sandro blouse / Opening Ceremony par Robert Clergerie shoes / Versus bag / Marc by Marc Jacobs earrings
If you grew up in North East Portland, chances are good you went to at least one birthday party at the Lloyd Center ice skating rink. The photo above is from one of those birthday parties, for a girl named Whitney who had REALLY long hair. I'm feeling this look a lot a lot a lot. I really like that the bunny on my sweater has a heart. Because it's not always clear whether or not bunnies are loving or more like a Bunnicula. So.

are you a Bunnicula? @toomanyronis

What I Actually Wore on Sunday

Topshop jacket / H&M sweater / American Apparel pants and scarf / Nike Air Max 90s
These are my most ridiculous pants. I wore them to brunch at BJ and Alexa's to play with the puppias and play some Rock Band and it was prettay fun. Then Cara and Juddy came over for chili. And it was just a great Sunday.

All the Shoes I Own #12: Phi Metal Heels

These are pretty special. Also from the final Phi sample sale, they are ridiculously small and uncomfortable and I will probably never wear them but I love them anyway. They're like trophy shoes.

Also my ankles look creepy and broken and kind of more like wrists (?) in that lower right picture.

What I Wore Saturday Night

H&M Jumpsuit / Topshop jacket / American Apparel circle scarf / Forever21 shoes
So obviously the first picture is from the beginning of the night, and everything after that was a the end of the night while waiting for sandos at the All Night Stars deli. Pretty sure we all go some laughs out of these pics. I'm really into this jumpsuit (and the leopard version I also bought).

I made the mistake of deciding to prep our sunday morning strata after I got home on Saturday, so I was up way past my bedtime and now I'm pretty wiped. But it was a rad weekend, I got to see a lot of my favorite people, play with some puppies, AND I heard "Only Girl in the World" at a bar, what more could I ask for?

What I Wore on Sunday I mean Saturday

Pendleton x Opening Ceremony jacket / FCUK shirt / BDG jeans / Forever21 shoes / Katherine Kwei bag
I love love love this jacket. I got it on HUGE MAJOR discount but still spent a lot on it, it's one of my prized possessions so I try to not overwear it. Ante and I went to Sel de Mer for brunch again, it's become a weekly tradition and I'm prettay into it. Then we watched MacGruber which was a hot mess, and later tonight I'm going on a hot date with the original Man Repeller. Saweet. All in a Saturday's work. Also I'm obsessed with these moccasin heels that were very cheap.

Now I'm gettin ma REAL SIMPLE ON Y'ALL.

All The Shoes I Own #11: Sperry High Tops

As you probably already know, I'm pretty obsessed with Sperry shoes. I wear my topsiders pretty much every day during the summer, and I have a pair of plaid ones I can't wait to show off at the holidays. I also have a pair of Sperry penny loafers and another weird pair of orange mesh flats that I've never worn (damn you Gilt Groupe and your $20 shoe sales). But you'll see them all on here, sooner or later.

These are particularly fun, because the shiny canvas makes them a tad "nicer" than my standard Nike/Adidas high tops, and the plaid lining is super fun to show off with a half cuff. Even if I'm the only one who notices.

In other news, my mom sent some pretty major scans of photos for "My Style Then and Now" posts, and she reallllly went all out. I did a lot of pointing and laughing at my childhood self today, and I can't wait to show you.

I believe I can fly @toomanyronis

My Style Then and Now

Dominic Jones skull necklace / Daisy Knight feather necklace / Erickson Beamon earrings / Marni bag / Burberry Prorsum black bracelet / Isabel Marant silver cuff / MICHAEL Michael Kors shorts / Christian Louboutin shoes
I guess I started playing dress up pretty young. I love that I am wearing my dad's socks and flip flops with mom's accessories, seems pretty appropriate given my sartorial tendencies nowadays. I still do love to play dress up, but don't do it nearly often enough – or at least not to the level my three-year-old self is killing it in this photo.

Also please note the splatter painted pink wicker basket behind me. Nice one, Dawn. Pretty sure that was full of yarn.

One of my intern's grandma made hats for everyone in the office (ummm cutest ever??) and I wore one today while wearing my boyf's flannel, my dad's frat sweater, and while eating some goodass soup. Yumm!

What I Wore on Monday

Topshop dress / Jacket from Nordstrom / American Apparel leggings / Cole Haan boots / F21 necklace
Wore this today with a black and gray poncho-cape. I saw Botkier's spring collection in the morning, which was SO good. Then when I got home, the hot water was back on after 36 hours of nothing but cold. And thank goodness, 'cause washing my hair in the sink last night was really tedious. Also these boots again, I am going to get so much wear out of these. I love them.

All the Shoes I Own #10: Phi Lace Up Heels

I love love love these shoes. Scored at the final Phi sample sale for next to nothing. They're pretty comfy too – I wore them last February during Fashion Week and got snapped in one of Refinery29's shoe round ups! Saweet.

I picked up a bunch of clothes from the tailor this weekend, I'm so excited! I had two skirts and a dress taken in, a a jacket mended and a dress turned into a skirt! Woop woop! Photos to come...

Peter Pan

Alexa Chung via StyledOn.
I'm not a die-hard Alexa fan, but this is one of the most perfect outfits I've ever seen (more hyperbole to follow). I've been really obsessed with Peter Pan and club collars lately, and I love that she looks totally elegant without trying. Also, pretty great how she doesn't really match. I hate my need to constantly match! Trying to stop being so anal about that. Also, her sweater has darts! I need a good sweater with darts. And obviously... the LV heels... sigh.

Valentino is for Lovers

Valentino Spring 2011, photos via Vogue.com.
This was such a gorgeous collection. But as with any house as legendary as Valentino, it's really the details that make it, and not just the accessories (which were obviously incredible), but the construction and craftsmanship. Sooo here's a look at some really beautiful clothes. That's all.

What I Wore in the Rain

Boyf's sweater / Liberty London for Target shirt / Zara pants / H&M belt / Uniqlo socks / BCBGeneration heels / Vintage scarf
This was a supremely comfortable outfit, partially inspired by my Paul Smith love fest from yesterday. I wore this to work and then to the Levi's spring preview party (mostly just a party), which was a pretty sweet shindig. It was held at the old Deitch Projects space, and The Duke Spirit played. They had a great turn out, great bar, and even though we didn't stay long it was a prettay fun time.

Now, onto another new project which I will stay mum about for now, but hopefully will be as awesome as I think it will be. What's up with you guys what's new where you been who'd ya see??

All the Shoes I Own #9: Nike Six Inch Air Force 1s

Nike 6" Air Force 1s
Ahhh. These. Definitely a fun pair of sneakers, to be sure. I love being stopped by die-hard sneaker fans and asked "What are those?!?" I got these at the Nike employee store (one of the many perks of growing up in the PacNW, thanks Aunt Kakie!), and wore them on the reg for a while, but have since taken them out of heavy rotation. Wore them in a snow storm once, wore them on New Year's Eve once, and one time I wore them with a really bad outfit to go dancing at Black Betty (RIP).

Annnnd most recently, I wore them with my Lisa Frank fish costume!

Oh, Paul!

Paul Smith Spring 2011, photos via Vogue.com

Paul Smith is another major major major favorite of mine from the Spring collections. There's pretty much nothing in this collection I wouldn't wear, but the top three looks are my favorites. It pretty much has it all: menswear, polka dots, psychedelic marble-roll paisley print, slouchy sweaters, silk... too good to be true. I thought this collection was a wonderful departure from his last, which relied heavily on quirk (there was a floral afghan dress that while kind of cool, left me scratching my head).

While it may be a little cliche to bring up Katherine Hepburn and "menswear-inspired fashion" in the same sentence, I can't help but think that she would have really rocked these pieces. I watched "Desk Set" last night (another movie I highly recommend, read more here), and the clothes were simply beyond. This is the kind of stuff that makes me sigh a wistful sigh...
